Traverse Bay Shoreline

Though not really part of Lake Winnipeg Traverse Bay is actually the mouth of the Winnipeg River where it flows into the lake between Elk Island and Devil's Island. 

It lends its name to a large part of the northern beaches area, including Traverse Bay Corner where Hwy 59 and Hwy 11 meet (formerly known as Nelly's Corner). There you will find the Idle Thyme Restaurant, a laundromat, post office, liquour mart and grocery store, gift shop, automotive repair and a small lumber yard.  In the summer, you can try your hand at mini golf or enjoy an ice cream cone.

There are several smaller communities within the boundaries of Hwy 11 & Hwy 59 where you could find a "place for all reasons".
