Grand Marais is a small resort community on the eastern shores of magnificent Lake Winnipeg. There are approximately 350 permanent residents; however during the summer the population increases  dramatically with the seasonal cottagers arrival and families renting cottages for the summer.

The "town" is adjacent to Grand Beach Provincial Park, which offers 3 km of one of the greatest beach in North America. To have over 30,000 patrons visit the beach on summer weekends is a frequent site. 

And it wouldn't be a proper visit if one didn't stop at Lanky's for a foot long hot dog!

Grand Marais is home to the rare Pileated Woodpecker and, during the summer, the even more rare Piping Plover.
